Here’s my review, I hope it’s okay, I want people to know how amazing your story is and to know that there is hope....
There are times that we all feel desperate and alone and, as hard as you try to make those around you understand, the less that they do. April's words could have been my own. Her strength and perseverance in finding answers and acceptance spoke so deeply to me. To actually hear God speaking and reaching His helping hand out to help bring her back is truly remarkable and shows that we all need to listen and see the signs we are shown that we are not alone. April may have felt weak, but her strength is remarkable, her story was not yet done, she still had many things to accomplish and she is helping so many, myself included. I had no idea what EDS was until I found April and her book, which has helped educate me and has shown me that we all need answers, whether medically or spiritually, there is so much we don't know or understand. Suicide is final and there is help, we just need to know who to reach out to. Kindness and compassion are so important and these were lacking in the first facility that April was placed in, they are so important to our mental health and ability to heal. I highly recommend "God is Hilarious" to everyone. I feel that April has a special way of writing and sending a message that we all need to hear. We need to, not only forgive those that hurt us, but forgive ourselves. To see how far this great family has come, due to fear, due to the unknown, but, due to forgiveness, they have begun healing... mentally, physically, and spiritually. Thank you, April, for opening yourself up and telling your story ❣️❣️❣️
This story took a tremendous amount of bravery to write. And while there is lots of tragedy, there is also lots of hope, because God meets her and n her struggles. This book brought back my hope in God as I have been in a place wondering where He is. Definitely something I will never forget and always be grateful for!
This book was amazing! I recommend this book to anyone going through hard times or anyone struggling to find themselves . This book spoke to me on many levels. I too have ehlers danlos syndromes as well as dysautonomia. To have someone who puts into words and describe what it is like living with chronic illnesses is a blessing. The bravery and strength it took to publish this book is truly amazing.
My name is Ashley and I just wanted to say that this book really was spectacular. The way April describes all that she has been through and still continues to fight, really astonishes me. The way she talks about God helping her is beautiful and it really inspired me to keep on going with a positive attitude. I also have EDS and it really is that bad. Thank you for giving me this book, April! You are a rock star and I am so proud of you.
By the way, I hate reading books, so this goes to show you how good this book was. I finished it in 3 days!
This book is an amazing story that needs to be heard worldwide. 10/10 recommend.
I read this book from cover to cover in two days.
I ...like the author have Dysautonomia and POTS.
This book is an extremely personal story of one woman’s journey and fight for her life. She bring awareness to the table about a few subjects that people tend to shy away from!
I admire her strength and amazing courage that it took for her to put pen to paper and allow her self to be seen in a completely vulnerable stage in her life!
Sadness...alone...scared...exhausted are just a few words that come to my mind after reading this book. Because...that’s what pushed her to her breaking point.
If you are someone you know are struggling with life please please read her book.
If you are someone you know have an illness that no one understands...read her book!!
My takeaway from this book is....I AM NOT ALONE!...in life.
"To restore the mind and body, one has to feel it to heal it, and have an open mind and an open heart to see the unseen, feel the unfelt, and hear the unheard. April is a living testimony to the process of healing her mind and body with empowering herself to learning greater truths. This is a must read for anyone touched by thoughts and feelings of suicide."
"This gripping auto-biographical account of a nurse's harrowing journey through life and 'standard medical treatment' for 'non-standard' medical conditions, outlines the incredible challenges she has endured to not only survive, but to become a stronger person who is committed to advocating for the many whose lives have taken a detour from 'normality. For fellow sufferers, their families and friends, this work will help gain insight and help their healing process."
"A remarkable story of how one woman clung to God's truth of her, regardless of the misperceptions of those around her, and pulled herself out of the darkest thoughts and feelings that led her to conscious choice of attempting suicide."
I’ve known April for many years and had no idea of her struggles. This book is so well written. I felt like I was going through every trial with her. I pray that this story reaches someone that is facing their own struggles and speaks to them. This is a story of faith and hope, a reminder that we are never alone.
